There is another very interesting phenomenon that occurs on Dec. 25.
From the Summer Solstice to the Winter Solstice, the days become
shorter and colder. And from the perspective of the northern
hemisphere, the Sun appears to be moving South and appears
increasingly scarcer as it's arc
over the sky grows shorter.
The shortening of the days and the expiration of the crops whilst
approaching the Winter Solstice symbolised death to the ancients. It
was the death of the Sun.
By Dec 22nd, the Sun's demise was fully realised, for the Sun
continuing South for six months makes it to its lowest point in the
sky. Once again, this is from the perspective of those in the nothern
hemisphere.
On Dec 22nd, a very curious thing occurs. The Sun stops moving South,
for three days. During this three day pause, the Sun resides in the
vicinity of the southern cross, or Crux constellation.

After this time, on December 25th, the Sun moves north, 1 full degree
- forshadowing longer days, warmth and Spring. Hallelujuah, Joy to the
World - after being stuck on the cross, the sun is reborn, and begins
its ascension.
Thus it was said, the Son died on a Cross, was dead for three days,
only to be resurrected and born again. This is why Jesus and other
solar deities share 'the crucifixion - three day death - and
resurrection concept.'
