The part that's interesting is he [knows] a part that's bad that he actually
can't find? So one has to wonder, [how] did he know the igniter was / is
bad if he's not aware of it's location? [Surely if he knew it's location,
and saw that the part wasn't working correctly, (assuming he knows what is
supposed to do and it's not doing it) then he would be able to figure out
how it comes apart.] So, did he call out a technician, who gave him a quote
and he [the client] told the tech to hit the road?

I'm guessing one of two things. Either as you say, the tech diagnosed, and
he threw out the tech. Or, it went out the last time and was the ignitor, so
it must be the ignitor again this time.

You're one of very few people who uses multi level brackets.
