Pull cover, look at burners.
Look to left or to right of burners underneath.
There will be one wire going to one side, two wires going to other.
Where the two wires goes is the ignitor.
Where the one wire goes is the flame sensor.
More than likely, this is a ceramic hot surface ignitor. All you have
to do is tap it wrong on any surface and the part is unusable. If you
touch it, you leave your oils and it will burn it out prematurely.
Now, I am going to cover my ears so I do not hear the fall out from
this board. |

I should also mention, in rare cases, they are located on top but this
is not the norm. Be sure to cut the power cut off switch before doing
any work on your furnace. If you do not know where power cut off
switch is, turn off the breaker.
I know you know it is the ignitor because this been a repeative
problem for you...you need a better tech than you have had before to
tell you why you are burning ignitors.
Email me because I have other questions for you that can help you get
to bottom of this problem: becauseofjunk@mailcan.com |

You will find it in the "Yellow Pages" under "Heating Service
Companies". For a nominal fee they will find it for you and repair it...
Saving your family the pain and agony of a possible accident with a
piece of volital equipment.

So, how do you know the ignitor is faulty? A furnace that doesn't heat, it
could be any of several dozen problems. And, your furnace could be of any of
a lot of different designs.
Asking how to replace an ignitor (without any more info) is like asking how
to vet a sick animal, and not even telling us what kind of animal. Carrier
is different than Goodman, which is different than York.

Do you know the OP well enough to think that s/he knows what you just said?
Many people own furnaces, but don't have the skills to know how to do all
that. It would be a shame to find out that you just encouraged someone to
take a furnace apart. Get it back together wrong, and now it makes funny
noises. Bing, bang, boom!

Having bought the ignitor already, it's fairly sure they will take something
or other apart. I can see your point of view.

They'll probably take it apart anyway -- better they should have SOME
guidance. |

Main Case?
You're probably in the circuit breaker box. Turn everything
off in your home except for the heat. Listen carefully and
look around the house for the source of this noise. That's
your furnace.

Confused the word "volital" in my dictionary.......
Perhaps :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volatile
Which doesn't make much sense in this usage either--suggest maybe consider
going back to making simple grunting sounds...

Thanx
Does the business card with loan officer work??
Actually it does help. He is involved with about 1 in 4 sales. It especially
helps when the customer is expecting pre-Katrina prices for replacement and
its 3 times the cost for a premium system. The 3 or 4 grand they had saved
up makes a nice down and they are able to finance the rest with either a
cash-out re-fi, or line of credit, or ???.... and usually at around 5%
interest. Makes it much more attractive to prospective clients.
